Pablo's Tail

Poor Pablo.  Our beautiful iguana got very upset when Melody was trying to take him out of his cage, and he dropped his lovely foot long tail.  Of course, the tail continued to flop around in the cage while Melody screamed and freaked out.  Bobby did what men do, and chased people around the house with the tail.  Pablo, of course, continued to be upset by the entire situation.  It was chaos.

The whole scene got me thinking about stress in general.  Nothing serious was happening to Pablo when he got upset.  He was being taken out of his cage by a loving, gentle owner who is always careful with him.  He just didn't want to come out of the cage, I guess.  Unfortunately, in lizards and in people, unnecessary stress can create very real physical symptoms -- lizards drop their tails, while people develop high blood pressure, tight muscles, ulcers and a myriad of other ailments.  We're left dealing with the physical realities caused by our thoughts long after the imagined stressor has passed.

My mantra: God is all there is, and God is only Good.  I am fine.  All is well.
