It's Inspiration Week!
In my career as a jewelry pro, no one has inspired me as much as CeCe Wire! The ultimate PMC diva, CeCe taught my precious metal clay certification class. Three days of basking in her teaching and mentoring, and I'm a fan for life. CeCe's calm teaching style and warmth paired with a passion for perfection in technique have really shaped my own teaching style. I figure that if CeCe, a metals professor and industry big wig, can make "tweet tweet" noises to illustrate her birds eye view, then I can get away with it at Bead World!
Between the classes I have taken with her and her two gorgeous books, CeCe has taught me many things,
- If you are willing to put in the work, you can make PMC pieces so clean that no one can tell they weren't constructed traditionally.
- We do not accept "chewing gum" art. (You know, when it just looks like someone globbed some stuff on there...)
- Yes, you CAN obtain a mirror shine on PMC. Be prepared to sand A LOT.
- Slab construction is your friend.
- Clients remember your instructions if you make funny noises. They may remember that you're crazy, too, but they'll remember the steps of the project.
- And, maybe the most important, "Don't touch hot things. They are hot."
