I'm a serious reader. I tear through books at a somewhat alarming pace. Comically, the books I read are generally divided into two categories: 1) serious, philisophical or spiritual non-fiction and 2) silly, romantic, sexy adventure fiction, often involving supernatural elements. Yes, I read vampire books. Fairy books, too. My silly books are my mental rest time, like most people use television. My spiritual books feed my soul and make me think. Every once in a great while, though, there is some intellectual crossover.
So, kids, I have done the impossible once again. I've found timely, personally relevant and profound words in an Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter novel.
There comes a point where you just love someone. Not because they're good, or bad, or anything really. You just love them. It doesn't mean you'll be together forever. It doesn't mean you won't hurt each other. It just means you love them. Sometimes in spite of who they are, and sometimes because of who they are. And you know they love you, sometimes because of who you are, and sometimes in spite of it.
