Inspiration is a Funny Thing

Inspiration is a funny thing.  I am a voracious absorber of all things pop culture, and while I can appreciate the most beloved of-the-moment items, most of them leave me cold.  And then, every once in a great while, something will grab me and stop my heart.  Seven billion years ago (okay, maybe more like seven years ago) I caught a glimpse of a photo of Julia Roberts in InStyle Magazine.  She was wearing the most fantastic pile of necklaces, and I was mesmerized.

For the next year, every time I saw Julia in an interview or photo, she was wearing more of the same kind of jewelry.  I had to know -- who was making this fantastic stuff?!  It made me want to create the most wonderful things.  I was so inspired.  It turns out that she had found this gifted designer while shooting The Mexican, and had to have every scrap of it that she could get her hands on.  I completely agreed!  So I hunted down, and found, Me & Ro.

Me& Ro is exactly the kind of company with which I would like to be associated.  Environmentally conscious, every scrap of their sterling silver jewelry is made of recycled silver.  Their packaging is all recycled.  Their methods of production are completely green.  Most importantly, their pieces reflect a vision of spirituality, harmony and peace.  Plus, they are totally gorgeous.

My personal aesthetic is crisper, more modern, than the work coming out of Me & Ro these days.  But I continue to be inspired by Robin Renzi, their designer and CEO, for running a company that is both fashion-relevant and world-healing.  They give me something to aspire to.
