We are in the midst of a drought. (No, not in the weather, as it has been uncharacteristically rainy all winter.) We have a severe kid shortage going on at our house. Chris, Melody and Dharma are all off on a spring break trip with their mom for the next TEN DAYS. Which is much too long, in my opinion. (For us, I mean. They are perfectly fine and having a grand time, I'm sure.) So, what on Earth are we going to do with ourselves with only two children? Sitting in a corner and pouting has been ruled out by Bobby, so I'm putting together a more proactive list of activities to get us through:
- take lots of yoga classes at our favorite studio
- Go to the Karen Drucker concert at New Vision
- eat a bunch of ethnic food that Dharma wouldn't have liked
- take walks with the dogs
- spend a bit of alone time with the two remaining children
- maybe actually spend some time alone!
My friends with children who have gone off to college assure me that we will survive this period of unnatural quiet. I'm sure they are right. But I don't have to like it!Labels: children, empty nest, family, spring break
