The Goodlanders take on the Renaissance Festival!

Springtime in Arizona means many things: the gorgeous scent of orange blossoms, beautiful 80 degree weather and the Renaissance Festival!  Our crazy family cannot resist the draw of Ye Olde English spoken by men from Wisconsin, wearing tights and funny hats.  We attend every year without fail, and we always have a wonderful time.  The Ren Fest is a time to let down your guard and be just as silly as you want to be.  Who's going to notice?  They're all being silly too!

Of course, all of this goofy behavior offers up one of my personal favorite things: silly scrapbook photo opportunities!  (Being a Theta in college really prepared me well to recognize a good photo op when I see one!)  We are big fans of Twig the fairy (above left, with Lauren, Melody and Dharma)  and take pictures with her every chance we get.  She's very generous with magical pebbles, fairy dust and giggles.  We are also fond of trying on every kind of costume we encounter.  Chris looked quite fetching in his flower wreath, don't you think?

We try new things as a family, with open hearts and minds, and let ourselves be truly joyful.  This year, I even tried the giant bouncy bungee thing that shoots your 40 feet into the air!  Lauren was nibbled on by a goose.  Creighton was nuzzled by a fairy.  Our friend Ryan Hughes threw tomatoes at a loud mouthed guy.  Dharma and Melody became the proud owners of fuzzy dragon puppets.  Chris and the kids were recruited as evil minions to help overthrow the local governor!  It was a fabulous day.

Lauren finds the perfect crown of flowers.

Melody and Dharma decide to sit on Lauren and steal her shoes.  (Ryan helped.)

Dharma's perfect crown is fuzzy!

Ahhhhhhhhhh!  (It went really high!)
